Draw Longitudinal Profile from Quadri Model

Use this function to draw the longitudinal profile from the Quadri model for the desired (source) line.

The source line can be:

1. an alignment/object from the Quadri model
2. an ASCII file with the alignment data (*.TIT, *.LIN, *.DAT, *.INH, and *.LI)
3. a line/polyline/arc or alignment from the current drawing

If the source line is also having its vertical geometry attached, the vertical profile shall also be presented.

Run the function from the following locations:

MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Draw Longitudinal Profile > Draw Longitudinal Profile from Quadri Model
MOUS_ICO Menu: Road > Draw Longitudinal Profile > Draw Longitudinal Profile from Quadri Model…

MOUS_ICO Menu: Railway > Draw Longitudinal Profile > Draw Longitudinal Profile from Quadri Model…

First, select which alignment task you want to work with.

The dialog Select Horizontal Alignment will pop up.

Step 1 - Source Line, Calculation Settings, and Sub-Surface Information

• Use the button Select to select the source alignment from the active Quadri model
• Use the button Browse to select the ASCII file of the source alignment
• Use the button Pick to pick the source line from the current drawing

Define how to calculate the terrain profile

• Calculate by using (the terrain profile calculation can be controlled by choosing one of the following options):
  • Section points only: Calculates only at the specified calculation interval along the source line.
  • Break points only: Calculates only at the crossing terrain surface breakline points.
  • All points: This includes calculation at section points and breakline points.
• Calculation width: Define the extent (on both sides left/right) across the source line, for which the terrain data is to be fetched for terrain points. Thus obtained terrain points will be interpolated for terrain elevation at each cross-section. Further details - refer Draw Longitudinal Profile
• Terrain Calculation: Select if terrain surface should present all priorities together, or only the compound/resulting terrain surface based on the current priorities.
• Define the offset values for the additional terrain profile to the right side and left side of the source line. This information is required, if the additional terrain profile is to be presented in the longitudinal profile.
• Specify the materials for top surface and subsurface layers. This information will be used by the drawing style to draw materials in specific layers.

Click the button Next to define the presentation settings and to select the additional features that are to be included in the longitudinal profile. The dialog Draw Longitudinal Profile from Quadri Model will pop up.

Step 2 - Presentation Settings and Additional Features

The active Quadri model, start chainage, and end chainage of the source line will be displayed at Terrain Design Task. To change the Quadri model, exit the function and run the function Select design task.

• Define the settings for profile at Longitudinal Profile Settings and Frame Settings.
  • Define the section of the alignment - use Start Chainage and Frame Length
  • Define the settings for elevations - use Datum and Frame Height
  • Define the insertion point for the profile - pick the point using the ellipse button () or key-in the coordinates at X and Y
  • Define the vertical exaggeration - exaggeration for elevations
• Preview of the profile with the settings defined is displayed at Location Selection Preview
• Additional Drawing Objects: Mark the check box to include the additional features in the longitudinal profile presentation.
  • Main Alignment: - This refers to the vertical profile of the source line (if available)
  • Main Alignment Info: - This refers to the information of vertical geometry (if available)
  • Wireframe models, other alignments, and existing objects that are available in the active terrain model can also be included in the presentation.
  • Additional terrain profile at an offset (as specified in step 1) can also be included
• Drawing Style Settings: Select a drawing standard from the list of the predefined national standards for longitudinal profile.
• Preview of the profile with the active drawing style is displayed at Longitudinal Profile Preview.
• Execute the function with the button Draw
