SketchUp (BETA)

Use this function to work with georeferenced features in SketchUp through Novapoint. By exporting data from Novapoint to SketchUp, it is possible to sketch features and import these back to Novapoint. User can select to work in Sketchup Free/Shop or Pro.

Start the function here:

MOUS_ICO Insert tab > SketchUp (BETA)

1. Reference Data: features you want to bring into SketchUp as a reference

2. Modifiable Data: existing features you want to modify in SkethUp

3. SketchUp: start SketchUp, either web- or desktop version

4. Output Feature Type: Select the feature you want to create

When using either reference- or modifiable data, you first select either the object you want to use as reference, or the object you want to modify.

Reference Data

Use Select Object and click on one or more objects, e.g. surfaces. Hold in CTRL on the keyboard to select multiple objects.

Then you click either SketchUp Free/Shop or SketchUp Desktop, and work with the sketching.

Modifiable Data

Use Select Object and click on one or more objects you want to modify.

Then you click either SketchUp Free/Shop or SketchUp Desktop, and work with the sketching.

SketchUp Free/Shop

Opens a new window in Novapoint with SketchUp, and loads the reference and/or modifiable data ready to edit. You need to log in with your Trimble ID first. When finished, the file needs to be saved temporarily to Trimble Connect. Click save, and wait until the saving icon goes from blue to grey and says “saved”, before the task can be finished.

SketchUp Desktop

Launches SketchUp desktop and opens the file with the reference and/or modifiable data ready to edit. This requires that SketchUp is installed on the computer. Remember to save the file when finished, and SketchUp can also be closed before returning to Novapoint, and the task can be finished.

Reference data vs Modifiable data

When using Referance data, you only see the objects selected as a reference. When saving and finishing, this data is not imported back to Novapoint.

When using Modifiable data, you modify directly on the object selected. When saving and finishing, this object will be imported with it's new geometry into Novapoint.

Geo referencing

Finishing

Select the output feature that you created, and want to add into your model. The list shows available feature types that supports solid geometry. If you used modifiable data you don't need to select an output feature, as the feature will be the same as the modified object has.

Click finish to finish the SketchUp task.
