Packing GeoSuite Toolbox

Novapoint GeoSuite Toolbox is delivered as a Windows installation package (msi). For normal client installation, the installation should always be started with Setup.exe for all related components to be checked and installed - see Standard client installation.

You can standardize a company-specific installation by running the installation with installation script. Below are some information and tips:

Dependent components

A scripted installation must ensure that a third-party CAD component “VectorDraw Lite File Converter” is installed. This is mandatory for Windows graphics to work properly in the applications. The installation package to run is in a folder under ISSetupPreerequisites. The installation file is called

In addition, there may be a requirement for Microsoft standard installation components specified for the current version.

Settings Template

During installation, a set of settings for the Novapoint GeoSuite Toolbox is added under ProgramData in the folders:

  • C:\ProgramData\Trimble\Novapoint\GeoSuite\No (Norwegian version)
  • C:\ProgramData\Trimble\Novapoint\GeoSuite\Sv (Swedish version)

New users who log in to the computer receive a copy of these settings at 1st startup. It is therefore good if these templates are appropriately selected in the scripted installation.

Standard installation folder:

  • INSTALLDIR=C:\Program Files (x86)\Trimble\Novapoint\GeoSuite\16

where 16 refers to the main version number of GeoSuite Toolbox.

In this folder, the GeoArkiv database must be located (Geoarkiv.bin). This database is / should be common to all users of GeoSuite Toolbox within the company. All users then have access to the same set of project databases.

The license may be a local PC license (referred to as 1st launch of GeoSuite) or a floating license.

The license server name is specified after @. Use semicolon (;) as a separator if multiple servers should be used.

If Novapoint is installed on the same computer, the same license path is normally used, and this parameter can then be left blank.

Configuring older versions:

The settings shown below are used in older versions to easily switch between two CAD platforms and associated Novapoint versions. This is now easier in Config Switcher for the Novapoint GeoSuite Toolbox in the application's program group.

  • GSAUTOCADVERSION=R23.0 (main version for AutoCAD)
  • GSAUTOCADPATHA=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2019\acad.exe
  • GSAUTOCADPATHB=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\acad.exe

GSAUTOCADPATHA set to R23 for AutoCAD version 2019

GSAUTOCADPATHB set to R21 for AutoCAD version 2017

The settings to Novapoint for version 18.30 or lower is controlled by the NOVAPOINTVER and NOVAPOINTPATH parameters. These can be initiated in packing by setting the parameters GSNOVAPOINTVER and GSNOVAPOINTPATH.

Exemple Novapoint 18.30

  • GSNOVAPOINTPATH=C:\Program Files\Vianova\Novapoint\18.30\
  • ACADEXE= C:\Program Files\Vianova\Novapoint\18.30\Novapoint.exe

Exemple Novapoint 19.20

  • GSNOVAPOINTPATH=C:\Program Files\Vianova\Novapoint\19.20\NP_Acad
  • ACADEXE=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013\acad.exe

ACADEXE should not be switched to NovapointBase.exe.

If you intend to retrieve data from Novapoint 19 - for example, to load road model or terrain model data into AutoCAD profile drawings - make sure AutoCAD is started via Novapoint.
